Relationship Advice: Constantly Getting Dumped?

not how to be single, dating, funny relationship advice, couples, dating habits

You meet someone and things seem to be going well. But within a month, the relationship is done and you are left to wonder why you can’t hold it together. Here are four reasons why you might keep finding yourself on the receiving end of the “It’s not you, it’s me” conversation.

1. You Are Gross

Let’s get real for a minute here. You constantly pick your nose in public. You can’t help it, but it’s true. You can’t kill the itch with anything but a good, deep dig. Consider yourself lucky that you found a mate to begin with. You must have held it together (somehow) for the first date and managed to pick only while your partner’s back was turned. But you can’t keep the booger in the bag for very long.

Your partner only gave you a quizzical glance the first time you were caught, but now it’s glaringly obvious that you’re a chronic picker. Sorry, friend. You’re done for.

2. Your Eating Habits Are Disgusting

Another reason why you may get dumped quickly is because your eating habits are annoying. Do you chew loudly? Shove everything into your mouth quickly? Or talk while you chew? You just answered in the affirmative to all of the above. Let’s be clear: This absolutely is the reason your date is kicking you to the curb.

As a general principle, when you are in a relationship with someone, you go out to eat more often. Your partner didn’t notice these habits when you first began dating because you did smaller things; you went to the movies or went bowling. But it quickly became a problem. Try this: The next time you eat, watch yourself in a mirror. You probably look like a cow chewing your cud. You definitely sound like one.

3. You Smell Bad … Really Bad

When you get comfortable with someone, you stop making so much of an effort to impress. When you first started dating, you may have hurried home after work to take a shower or douse yourself in cologne.

But you’ve stopped putting in the effort; you meet up straight after work and you don’t want to waste expensive cologne when they’re already into you. Natural body odors have begun to saturate your clothes, to precede you into a room. It’s a turnoff, no doubt. Hey, something to work on for next time!

4. Your Friends Are Annoying

And hey, maybe you found someone who’s good with all of that. They don’t care about your little idiosyncrasies. Maybe they even have some of the same issues. And you still got dumped. You may not be the problem at all.

Take a look at the timeline of events. Did you start introducing your partner to a lot of your friends about a month into the relationship? And are your friends loud and obnoxious? Rude and inconsiderate? Immature?

It can be hard to find the person you are meant to be with. But if you keep getting dumped after a few weeks, you may be the reason why. Take a look at your behavior and ask what you can do to change it. Take a shower regularly before work. Blow your nose instead of picking it.

You can do it! Making changes may help you find the love of your life. At the very least, you might form a relationship that makes it past the first month.
